Barcelona’s Camp Nou problems mount ahead of Real Sociedad clash

La Liga champions Barcelona will not be granted permission to play out the club’s upcoming meeting with Real Sociedad at the Spotify Camp Nou.

That’s according to Marca, who have on Tuesday provided the latest on the situation.

Joan Laporta and co. had been hopeful that at some point over the coming days, the green light would at last be forthcoming for Barcelona’s beloved home ground to be reopened to the public.

Such a development could have seen Hansi Flick’s troops welcome Real Sociedad to the renovated Camp Nou this coming Sunday.

As alluded to above, however, on Tuesday, such hopes were definitively ended.

As per a report from Marca:

‘Barcelona City Council met this Tuesday afternoon to discuss granting Barça a first occupancy permit. Ultimately, the green light was not given.’

This decision was made owing to what are described as ‘security irregularities’, reported by firefighters at the stadium.

Barcelona’s La Liga meeting with Real Sociedad is therefore expected to be contested at Montjuïc.
