Athletic Club took to social media on Wednesday morning to present their home kit for the upcoming season which begins in August.
One notable figure from the Bilbao-based club was conspicuous only by his absence, however, not being present in the club’s announcement video whatsoever.
The man in question is Nico Williams, who has been rumoured heavily in the past few days with a move to Catalan giants Barcelona.
Many may point to the fact that Williams is currently out in Germany with the Spanish national team at Euro 2024, however, this didn’t stop Spain’s goalkeeper Unai Simón from making an appearance.
Plenty of fans will point to the 21-year-old winger’s absence and assume that it means that talks surrounding a departure to Barcelona are progressing far more quickly than anticipated.
It doesn’t help that this comes only days after Barcelona’s president Joan Laporta outright stated that his club are capable of signing the young winger.
This absence from club materials only goes a step further to increase the rumours of a departure, and now many will be keeping a keen eye on the situation, awaiting more details to surface.
