Barcelona boss Flick provides Rodri injury update

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided an update on the wellbeing of midfield star Rodri. This comes after the 30-year-old set alarm bells sounding in Catalunya’s capital earlier this evening.

Barcelona were of course back in action a short time ago, welcoming Unai Emery’s Aston Villa to the Camp Nou for a Champions League showdown.

When all was said and done, the Blaugrana emerged on the right side of a 3-0 result.

The aforementioned Rodri featured from the off in the fixture, from his customary berth at the base of the hosts’ engine room. Upon Barca reemerging for the 2nd-half, however, the former Manchester City man was nowhere to be seen.

It was subsequently reported in the Spanish media that Rodri was dealing with a calf complaint. Speaking to the media post-match, the subject of his midfield general’s fitness was therefore put to manager Hansi Flick.

And the German went on to explain:

“He noticed some discomfort; we have to wait until tomorrow (for tests).”
