Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has personally requested that a transfer-linked member of his midfield ranks not be sold this summer.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Frenkie de Jong as the player in question.
The name of Dutch international De Jong has of course proven itself a prominent one in Catalunya’s capital across much of the summer to date.
As much comes as the 27-year-old continues to be linked with a move away from Barcelona.
Amid their ongoing search for funds on the market, De Jong has been tipped as one potential sacrifice, with the midfielder’s ongoing injury problems making an exit all the more tempting.
As alluded to above, however, should the club’s new headmaster have his way, then De Jong will be going nowhere any time soon.
As per a report from Sport:
‘Hansi Flick asked the sporting management of the Blaugrana club not to sell the Dutchman under any circumstances this summer.’
As much comes with Flick holding the former Ajax man in altogether high regard, considering him a central piece of his project moving forward.
