Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has made a final call on the immediate future of an up-and-coming member of his defensive ranks.
That’s according to Carlos Monfort of Jijantes, who points towards Héctor Fort as the player in question.
Full-back Fort has of course played something of a bit-part role in Catalunya’s capital across the season to date.
Sitting firmly behind first-choice full-back pairing Jules Koundé and Alejandro Balde, the 18-year-old has been tasked with filling in on both sides of boss Flick’s backline, often in a substitute role.
All told, between starts and cameos off the bench, Fort has racked up 21 appearances across all competitions this term.
And along the way, evidently, the youngster has done enough to convince the Barcelona coaching staff of his readiness to contribute for the seasons ahead, too.
As per a report from the aforementioned Carlos Monfort:
‘Barça have Héctor Fort for next season. In recent weeks, the club has communicated to the player’s entourage that it is counting on him and the idea at the moment is for him to stay. Flick is happy with Héctor, who feels very comfortable.’
