Barcelona board see emerging leader as ‘a future captain’

The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona consider Eric García a future captain in the making at the club.

This of course comes amid what has been a stellar opening to the campaign on the part of the former Manchester City man.

After again being tipped for a depature from Catalunya’s capital over the summer, Eric has spent the early months of the new season establishing himself as one of the first names on the team sheet of boss Hansi Flick.

In fact, the 24-year-old is the only member of Barcelona’s squad to have played some part in every one of the club’s fixtures this term.

On top of as much, Eric has showcased remarkable versatility, slotting in at right-back, centre-back and in the middle of the park with minimal fuss.

Such ongoing excellence will imminently see the stopper rewarded with a new long-term contract.

And as alluded to above, this comes with a view to Eric, one day, potentially taking up the captain’s armband in Barcelona.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:

‘The club, for its part, considers him fundamental and sees him as a potential future captain.’
