A member of the boardroom setup at La Liga champions Barcelona has on Wednesday stepped down from his role.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Alex Santos as the individual in question.
Santos, for his part, spent recent years acting as Director of Communications at the Camp Nou.
The journalist, who has written several books about the history of Barcelona as a club, took up his position back in May of 2021.
This came on the back of Joan Laporta securing his place as Blaugrana president.
This week, though, the call has been made for Santos to move on.
As per a report from MD:
‘FC Barcelona announced to its employees this Wednesday that Alex Santos, 60, will step down as Director of Communications at FC Barcelona, effective today.’
Barcelona have already begun putting plans in place to restructure the club’s management department.
Gabriel Martínez’s is one name to have been floated as a potential replacement for Santos.
