Barcelona announce double injury update

La Liga giants Barcelona have on Sunday provided injury updates on two members of the club’s first-team ranks.

This comes after both were forced into premature departures from yesterday’s showdown with Atlético Madrid.

Barcelona are of course fresh off taking another major step towards retaining their La Liga crown on Saturday.

After making the trip to the Metropolitano, the Blaugrana ultimately emerged on the right side of a 2-1 result, opening the gap atop the table to a full seven points.

En route to as much, however, Hansi Flick and co. were also dealt a pair of personnel blows.

First, during the first-half, Ronald Araújo limped off with a fitness problem. This was then followed by his replacement, in Marc Bernal, departing the action early, too.

And as alluded to above, a day on, updates on the wellbeing of both players have been forthcoming online.

As per a statement across Barcelona’s social media platforms:

‘First-team player Ronald Araujo has a minor muscle strain in his left thigh. He will be available for Wednesday’s match against Atlético de Madrid. First-team player Marc Bernal has suffered a sprain in his left ankle. His recovery time will depend on how the injury evolves.’
