La Liga giants Barcelona have this week taken a significant step towards securing a headline member of the club’s summer transfer wishlist.
The player in question? Nico Williams.
Wide-man Nico has of course seen his name cast firmly back into the spotlight in Catalunya’s capital over recent days.
This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that, following a fresh round of talks between the 22-year-old’s agent and Barca director Deco, a joining of forces between the parties this summer is very much back on the cards.
Amid their ongoing search for reinforcements out wide, Nico is now considered the Blaugrana’s no.1 target.
And as alluded to above, on Thursday, a major step in the right direction on the part of the Camp Nou brass in their efforts to secure the Athletic Club man’s signature has been confirmed.
As per a report from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano:
‘Nico Williams and Barça have agreed personal terms on 6 year deal! Agreement sealed on player’s contract until June 2031 with the salary in the region of €7/8m net per season. Barça are currently working on financial terms to get deal done with Athletic.’
