La Liga giants Barcelona have added the name of Joaquín Panichelli to their shortlist of striker transfer targets for next season.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have confirmed that Barcelona are keeping a close eye on the development of the Argentine.
Panichelli for his part actually departed Spanish outfit Deportivo Alavés this past summer, to take his talents to France with Strasbourg.
And the 23-year-old has since proven himself an instant hit at The Stade de la Meinau.
Across 10 Ligue 1 appearances in Strasbourg’s colours to date, Panichelli has found the net an impressive nine times.
With such production comes inevitable outside interest, with a number of clubs from across the continent having already been credited with an interest in the frontman.
And chief amongst them, as alluded to above, are La Liga champions Barcelona.
As per a report from French outlet Foot Mercato, citing Mundo Deportivo in Spain, the Camp Nou brass have had their attentions piqued by Panichelli’s form.
So much so that, amid an ongoing search for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, the Argentine’s name has been added to the shortlist drawn up by Deco and co.
