According to journalist Toni Juanmarti, Robert Lewandowski remains in Barcelona’s plans for next season despite his recent struggles in front of goal.
Lewandovski’s brace against against Alavés at the weekend ended his six-match scoreless drought. Since the last Clásico, the 35-year-old has struggled to find the back of the net on a consistent basis, however, this has coincided with the poor form of his teammates, which has led to a lack of service for the striker.
The club believe Vitor Roque will have an impact in both the short and long term, eventually leading the line for the Spanish giants. However, sporting director Deco has dismissed the idea of Roque replacing the Poland international.
The club director believes Roque can soak up the experience of the Pole next season while he adapts to the intensity of the league. The Catalan club want Lewandovski to remain at the club, but their plans could be disrupted by a proposal from Saudi Arabia.
The former Bayern player is in his second season at Barca and has 41 goals in 60 games, which has led to significant interest from Saudi Arabia. Despite this, the forward is comfortable with his current situation at the club and wants to help Xavi win more titles.
The veteran striker was signed in the summer of 2022 for €45m plus an additional €5m in add-ons. He remains committed to the club until June 2025 although the fourth year of his deal will only be triggered if he meets the appearances criteria included in his deal.
