Real Madrid star Gonzalo García could be in line for a rare start in the club’s upcoming showdown with Manchester City.
This comes amid the expectation that Kylian Mbappé will be forced to make do with a spot on the bench from the off this evening.
Frontman Mbappé was labelled a major doubt to play any part against Man City on Wednesday after picking up a fitness problem over the weekend.
The Frenchman has since been included in Xabi Alonso’s matchday squad, but it is considered increasingly unlikely that he will be risked from the first whistle.
As much, in turn, will open the door for an oft-overlooked member of Real’s attacking ranks to secure for himself a rare start.
As per a report from El Larguero, if Mbappé is left on the bench this evening, then replacing the former PSG standout in Los Merengues’ XI will be youngster Gonzalo García.
