Backup Barcelona star confirms: ‘I want to become an undisputed starter’

A member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week revealed his hopes of soon establishing himself as first-choice in Hansi Flick’s XI.

The player in question? Ferran Torres.

Frontman Ferran was for his part of course forced to sit out the final weeks of Barcelona’s triumphant 2024/25 campaign.

This came after the former Manchester City man was forced to undergo emergency surgery for a case of appendicitis.

Prior to as much, though, Ferran had enjoyed a thoroughly productive year, pushing Robert Lewandowski for a starting berth courtesy of an impressive haul of 19 goals and seven assists.

And though as things stand he remains 2nd-choice behind Lewandowski, the Spanish international, as alluded to above, has set his sights firmly on a starting role in Catalunya’s capital.

Speaking during a public appearance this week, Ferran was not shy in confirming:

“I only see myself at Barcelona. I will stay here and fight to earn my place in the team and become an undisputed starter.”
