A high-profile member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is set to depart the club this summer.
That’s according to Cadena SER, who have on Friday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.
The player with one foot out the door at Real, it is claimed, comes in the form of Dani Ceballos.
Midfielder Ceballos, for his part, only put pen to paper on a new contract at the Santiago Bernabéu in the summer of 2023.
With his game-time having since been severely limited by the wealth of options at the disposal of boss Carlo Ancelotti in the middle of the park, however, the 27-year-old is understood to have come to the realisation that his search for regular football will need to come elsewhere.
And yet, in seeking out as much, Ceballos may not even be required to relocate to a new city.
This comes with Atlético Madrid, as things stand, viewed as the one-time Arsenal man’s most likely summer landing spot.
After the Rojiblancos expressed a keen interest in his services before the current campaign got underway, contacts have been maintained between the parties, with a view to a renewed push for a deal this time round.
Ceballos’ beloved Real Betis have also emerged as a potential landing spot, but it is Atlético, as things stand, who are considered the frontrunners for his signature.
