Atlético Madrid are set to be without two members of the club’s summer recruitment drive for their upcoming showdown with arch rivals Real Madrid.
That’s according to journalist Pedro Fullana of SER, who has on Thursday provided an insight into the latest developments in Diego Simeone’s squad.
Atlético, of course, are fresh off a much-needed return to winning ways on Wednesday night.
After welcoming Rayo Vallecano to the Spanish capital, a hat-trick on the part of Man of the Match Julián Alvarez proved enough to guide the Rojiblancos to a welcome three points.
Atléti’s players, in turn, reconvened at the club’s training ground this morning, for a recovery session.
Two members of Simeone’s ranks who remained nowhere to be seen, though, were Johnny Cardoso, and Thiago Almada.
The summer arrivals at the Metropolitano were forced to sit out once more against Rayo, owing to respective injury problems.
And according to the aforementioned Pedro Fullana, neither will return in time to play any part in this weekend’s Madrid Derby.
