Atlético Madrid’s poor form continues

Atlético Madrid have been struggling to put together a consistent run of wins throughout the whole season.

Having finished bottom of their group in the Champions League in the autumn, they did not qualify for any continental competitions in the new year. Despite La Liga remaining the only competition that they are still playing in, last night Los Colchoneros were held to a 1-1 draw against relegation candidates Getafe at the Estadio Metropolitano.

As noted by AS, Atlético Madrid have only been able to take 15 points at home out of a possible of 30 so far this season in La Liga. They currently sit 4th in the league standings, 15 points below leaders Barcelona.

Changes need to made at Atlético Madrid, but the question remains whether the summer period will be enough for Los Colchoneros to prepare themselves for the 2023/24 season. As communicated yesterday, Diego Simeone hinted at a possible departure from the club in the summer of 2024.
