Atlético Madrid are keeping a close eye on the contract situation of a key member of the midfield setup at La Liga rivals Real Betis, according to reports.
The player in question? Guido Rodríguez.
Argentina international Rodríguez has of course been tipped for a move to the Cívitas Metropolitano for some time now, with this past summer having seen him earmarked as a potential replacement for Rodrigo de Paul.
In the end, De Paul opted to stay put, bringing an end to Atlético’s chase.
But, as alluded to above, if the latest word doing the rounds in the media on Monday is anything to go by, Diego Simeone and co. remain keen admirers of Rodríguez’s talents.
This comes amid claims that the Rojiblancos are one of a number of clubs ready to swoop, in the case of Betis failing to tie their midfield standout down to fresh terms:
As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, speaking during a daily briefing with Caught Offside:
“Real Betis want to offer Guido Rodríguez a new deal as he comes closer to being a free agent. The same for Juan Miranda, but at this stage there’s no agreement with both players including Guido.
“It’s an open situation. At the moment is not something concrete, but there’s interest from many clubs including Atlético Madrid.”
