Atlético Madrid star ‘wants to sign for Barcelona’

A headline member of the attacking ranks at Atlético Madrid has set his sights firmly on a move to La Liga rivals Barcelona.

That’s according to Fichajes, who point towards Julián Alvarez as the player in question.

The name of frontman Alvarez has of course long proven a prominent one in the transfer chatter surrounding Barcelona.

This comes with the Argentine international having been tipped as a potential long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

‘Lewa’ is all set to depart Catalunya’s capital next summer, upon the expiration of his contract terms.

And if the latest word stemming from the media this weekend is anything to go by, then interest in a joining of forces between Alvarez and Barca, at this point, appears very much mutual.

As per a report from Fichajes:

‘The Argentine striker hasn’t quite adapted to Diego Simeone’s system and has already made it known privately that he wants to sign for Barcelona in the summer of 2026.’

Alvarez, it is claimed, sees the opportunity to lead Barcelona’s frontline into a new era as one too good to turn down, therefore ready to push for a Camp Nou switch.
