Atlético Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has this week fired a warning to La Liga rivals Barcelona, and any other clubs interested in the signature of Julián Alvarez.
This comes amid the assurance that the Argentine will not be departing Spain’s capital any time soon.
Frontman Alvarez has for his part been hotly tipped for a move away from Atlético with a view to the 2026/27 campaign.
As much comes amid the understanding that the likes of Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and the aforementioned Barcelona have all set sights on the World Cup winner’s services.
Barca, for one, view Alvarez as the ideal long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
As alluded to above, however, if the latest comments on the part of Enrique Cerezo are anything to go by, then those of a Rojiblancos persuasion can rest easy.
Drawn on the name of his side’s attacking standout during an exchange with the media this week, Atlético’s president assured:
“Julián Álvarez is an Atléti player and will remain an Atléti player, don’t doubt it.”
