Those in a position of power at Atlético Madrid have lodged an official complaint to the Spanish football authorities, regarding the behaviour of La Liga rivals Barcelona.
This comes amid the latter’s ongoing pursuit of Rojiblancos frontman Julián Alvarez.
The name of frontman Alvarez has of course positioned itself centre stage in the media headlines throughout Spain across the summer to date. After Robert Lewandowski was allowed to depart the aforementioned Barcelona on a free transfer, the 26-year-old was identified as the ideal replacement.
Joan Laporta and the Blaugrana board have not been at all shy in making public their desire to bring Alvarez in, putting serious pressure on their counterparts at the Metropolitano.
And as alluded to above, Atlético, it would appear, have this week reached breaking point. As per a report from The Athletic:
‘Atletico Madrid have reported Barcelona to the Spanish football federation (RFEF) over their perceived improper pursuit of Julian Alvarez. The complaint relates to an alleged breach of ethics between the clubs.’
Barcelona, it is added, intend to lodge an appeal.
