La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have early this week reached a transfer agreement with their counterparts at Premier League outfit Aston Villa.
This comes amid confirmation that Conor Gallagher looks primed for a return to his home country this month.
Midfielder Gallagher has for his part been hotly tipped for an Atlético Madrid exit for some time now.
After failing to see any such move come to fruition over the summer, the former Chelsea man has in turn found himself in and out of Diego Simeone’s XI in Spain’s capital across the season to date.
With the transfer market now back in full swing, a number of clubs have returned to the table, though, keen to strike a loan deal with the Metropolitano brass.
And as alluded to above, on Monday, one such suitor have positioned themselves at the front of the queue to bring Gallagher in.
As per a report from market insider Fabrizio Romano:
‘Aston Villa verbally agreed deal with Atlético Madrid today. Villa had initial green light from Gallagher but waiting for next steps on player side.’
Fellow Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, it is noted, also remain in the hunt.
