La Liga giants Atlético Madrid are all set to close the signing of Spanish international Alejandro Grimaldo from Bayer Leverkusen.
This comes amid the understanding that the two clubs are on the verge of reaching a final agreement for the transfer.
Defender Grimaldo’s name has of course taken its place front and centre in the media headlines in Spain’s capital for several months now.
Amid an ongoing search for reinforcements on the left, the aforementioned Atlético identified the 30-year-old as the ideal addition to Diego Simeone’s squad.
Negotiations, in turn, were this week kicked into gear with the Bayer Leverkusen brass over the terms of a deal. And as alluded to above, on Friday, a breakthrough is understood to have been found between club and player.
As per a report from market expert Fabrizio Romano:
‘Atlético Madrid are close to getting deal done for Alejandro Grimaldo. Agreement 100% done on personal terms, Grimaldo says yes to Atléti project. Atléti now in talks with Bayer Leverkusen to seal the deal for fee over €10m.’
