Atlético Madrid, after a few weeks of poor results, are already exploring the market to strengthen their midfield.
Atlético are planning a major overhaul of the squad. One of the names on the table is 21-year-old Italian midfielder Samuele Ricci, according to Mundo Deportivo. Ricci arrived at Serie A side Torino in the summer, where he has emerged as one of the stars in Italy’s top flight.
Ricci is a permanent fixture for Ivan Juric, coach of the Turin club, who paid €8.5m in the summer for his services and several of the top clubs in Italy are already following his situation.
The Pontedera-born midfielder’s progress has led to him being called up to Roberto Mancini’s senior Italy squad, where he made his debut in June in a Nations League match against Germany, coming on late in the game. Prior to that, he had been a regular in all the Azzurri’s underage teams.
