This comes amid the widespred understanding that the Nigerian international has been earmarked as a potential signing on the part of Diego Simeone and co.
Confirmation of Thiago Almada’s arrival at the Metropolitano was expected to see Lookman’s Atléti links fade out, but as alluded to above, the Rojiblancos remain interested in the Atalanta standout.
As per a report from market insider Fabrizio Romano on Wednesday:
‘Atlético Madrid remain keen on signing Ademola Lookman in case of more exits. Contacts took place in recent days again even after Thiago Almada deal, waiting for more clarity on final pricing.’
Atlético have already completed one piece of transfer business with Atalanta this summer, by way of the signing of left-back Matteo Ruggeri.
