Atlético Madrid are in negotiations with Chelsea over a January loan deal for Marcos Alonso, according to The Independent.
Alonso could become Atlético’s first reinforcement of the winter window as Los Rojiblancos and Chelsea hold talks over a potential deal for the left-back to join on loan. The Spanish defender has reportedly asked the Premier League club to allow him to join Diego Simeone’s team this window. He is not part of Frank Lampard’s plans and has not played for Chelsea since September 26. Alonso has only featured in three games and played a total of 225 minutes this season.
The left-back position is one that Simeone wants to reinforce. Renan Lodi and Manu Sánchez are the natural left-backs currently at the club. Mario Hermoso is also capable of playing there as well as at centre-back.
