The Rojiblancos bid farewell to summer signing Giacomo Raspadori earlier this month, after the Italian made the call to return to his home country with Atalanta.
The Metropolitano brass therefore kicked into gear a widespread scouring of the market, for potential signings in the final third.
And as alluded to above, this weekend, this search has led them all the way to Saudi Arabia.
As per a report from market insider Matteo Moretto:
‘Atlético de Madrid, surprisingly, sets its sights on Marcos Leonardo, Al Hilal’s forward. In recent hours, the two clubs have held talks to reach an agreement on a loan. Advanced negotiations between the parties.’
Brazil U23 international Leonardo has for his part found the net 14 times in 24 appearances for Al-Hilal this season.
