Atlético Madrid have already made a call on on-loan Jonathan David’s future

The brass at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have already seen enough to make a definitive call on the long-term future of Jonathan David with the club.

This comes amid the understanding that the Rojiblancos are ready to do whatever it takes to make the Canadian international’s signing a permanent one.

Frontman David of course swapped Italy for Spain this past summer. Out of favour at Serie A heavyweights Juventus, the 26-year-old was snapped up by Atlético on a loan deal through next summer.

David has since gone on to impress in the colours of his new employers, to the tune of five direct goal contributions in four La Liga appearances.

And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, such production has already proven enough to convince those behind the scenes at the Metropolitano of the attacker’s place in the club’s long-term vision.

As per a report from Relevo:

‘The club are already exploring options to secure the striker’s services permanently. All indications are that if an agreement isn’t reached on the payment method or amount, Atlético are prepared to pay the full fee (€25 million). Furthermore, a portion of next season’s budget has already been set aside for this transfer.’
