The brass at Atlético Madrid have earmarked a member of the attacking ranks at La Liga rivals Barcelona as a potential summer signing.
This comes amid the understanding that those behind the scenes at the Metropolitano are keen admirers of the talents boasted by Ferran Torres.
Barcelona have of course spent much of the summer to date pursuing a deal for Atlético’s star frontman, in the form of Julián Alvarez. To date, the Blaugrana have been left frustrated, as the board in Spain’s capital continue to stand firm in their massive demands for the Argentine.
As alluded to above, though, Barca could yet possess a trump card, to make use of in future rounds of negotiations.
As per a report from Marca transfer insider Matteo Moretto, Atléti consider none other than Ferran Torres as the ideal reinforcement for next season:
“(Sporting director) Mateu Alemany thinks he’s an extraordinary player. Barça haven’t given up on Julián yet, and Atlético and Barça will be talking again soon.”
