La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have confirmed that Marcos Llorente was withdrawn from the club’s latest outing owing to injury.
Diego Simeone’s troops are fresh off marking their return to the pitch post-international break with a victory.
After making the trip across Spain’s capital for a La Liga meeting with Getafe, a solitary own goal late on proved enough to guide Atlético to the right side of a 1-0 result.
As alluded to above, though, their eventual three-point haul did not come without its setbacks.
Inside the opening quarter of an hour at the Coliseum, Marcos Llorente was hooked from proceedings, replaced by Antoine Griezmann.
And as confirmed in an ensuing statement across Atléti’s social media platforms:
‘Marcos Llorente has withdrawn after feeling some discomfort and remains pending the definitive assessment by the medical services.’
A further update on the situation is expected over the days ahead, but Llorente’s status to face Inter Milan in midweek has been thrown very much up in the air.
