La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have on Thursday announced a blow on the personnel front in the club’s first-team ranks.
This comes amid confirmation of Pablo Barrios being set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Midfielder Barrios played his part on Tuesday night, as Atlético welcomed Tottenham Hotspur to Spain’s capital for a Champions League clash.
En route to an eventual 5-2 Rojiblancos triumph, the 22-year-old was introduced to proceedings off the bench during the 2nd-half.
Amid his ongoing recovery efforts on Thursday, however, Barrios suffered a setback…
As per a statement across Atléti’s website and social media platforms this evening, the Spanish international picked up an injury during training earlier today.
Barrios is therefore primed for an upcoming stint on the treatment table in Madrid:
‘Pablo Barrios has suffered a muscular injury in his right thigh that occurred in the final stretch of Thursday’s training session. The midfielder withdrew with discomfort from the session, and the tests carried out by the medical services confirmed the injury. The youth academy product will undergo physiotherapy sessions and gym-based re-adaptation work. The evolution of his injury will determine his return to competition.’
