La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have on Monday confirmed the extent of the injury suffered by Marcos Llorente.
This comes after the versatile full-back/midfielder set alarm bells sounding in Spain’s capital on Sunday.
Llorente was for his part in from the off yesterday evening, as Atlético made the short trip to the Estadio Coliseum to face Getafe.
During the opening exchanges, however, the 30-year-old was forced into a premature departure from proceedings.
This came after Llorente pulled up with what appeared to be a muscular complaint.
And as alluded to above, after undergoing a round of medical tests on Monday morning, the extent of his setback has since been revealed.
As per a statement across Atlético’s website and social media platforms:
‘Marcos Llorente suffers a muscle injury in his thigh, diagnosed by the club’s medical services after tests were carried out on our player, who was forced to leave the match against Getafe 14 minutes into the game on Sunday.
‘The red and white number ’14’ will undergo physiotherapy sessions and rehabilitation work in the gym, and the evolution of his injury will determine his return to competition.’
