Athletic Club star Iñigo Lekue has been sanctioned with a two-match suspension by the The RFEF Disciplinary Committee.
This comes owing to his behaviour on the touchline during the Basque club’s weekend meeting with Getafe.
En route to a disappointing 1-0 defeat for Athletic, Lekue was actually forced into a premature departure from proceedings owing to injury.
This did not stop the defender from remaining very much involved, though.
Whilst on the bench inside the closing exchanges at San Mamés, Lekue allowed his emotions to get the better of him, culminating in a straight red card.
And as alluded to above, on Wednesday, the 32-year-old has learned his punishment for his actions.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, Lekue will be unavailable to manager Ernesto Valverde for Athletic’s next two domestic fixtures, against Real Sociedad, and Real Oviedo.
It is entirely possible that the full-back would have been absent for both matches, anyway, as he recovers from a muscular issue.
