La Liga outfit Athletic Club have on Saturday been dealt another blow on the fitness front.
This comes after Iñigo Lekue was forced into a premature departure from the Basque outfit’s meeting with Getafe.
Lekue was afforded just his third start of the campaign this evening, as Athletic welcomed Getafe to San Mamés for a league clash.
Just past the half-hour mark, however, the 32-year-old pulled up suddenly with a problem.
After sending a long ball forward into the visitors’ half, Lekue immediately made clear that he was in discomfort, with what appeared to be a muscular complaint.
From here, the defender was replaced by Jesús Areso on the right of Ernesto Valverde’s backline.
Lekue will be put through a round of medical tests over the days ahead, but looks primed for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
The Spaniard, in the case of as much, would join the likes of Unai Egiluz, Beñat Prados and Iñaki Williams in being unavailable for selection in Bilbao at present.
