Athletic Club head coach Ernesto Valverde has this evening provided updates on the wellbeing of Williams brothers Nico and Iñaki.
This comes after the Athletic stars both sparked concern, en route to the club’s latest triumph.
The Lehoiak marked their return to action a short time ago, welcoming Mallorca to San Mamés for a La Liga clash.
When all was said and done, the evening’s hosts emerged dominant victors, owing to goals on the part of Yuri Berchiche (2), Gorka Guruzeta, and Iker Muniain.
On an otherwise positive night’s work for their side, though, Athletic’s supporters were also made to sweat, by a pair of concerns on the personnel front.
Ahead of next week’s Copa del Rey semi-final first-leg showdown with Atlético Madrid, both Nico and Iñaki Williams appeared to pick up issues against Mallorca.
Speaking to the media post-match, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the siblings’ fitness was put to boss Ernesto Valverde.
And the former Barcelona tactician went on to admit that, whilst Iñaki’s situation has not sparked any kind of worry, Nico will be forced to undergo medical tests, owing to groin discomfort:
“Nico had a little discomfort in his groin, we have to wait. Iñaki’s thing doesn’t seem like anything,” Valverde explained.
