La Liga outfit Athletic Club have this week announced a fresh personnel setback in the club’s first-team ranks.
This comes amid confirmation that Oihan Sancet is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Attacking midfielder/forward Sancet was for his part included in Ernesto Valverde’s travelling squad which made the trip to Germany on Wednesday.
This came ahead of a Champions League meeting with Borussia Dortmund.
En route to an eventual 4-1 defeat for Athletic, however, the 25-year-old was left on the bench for the full 90 minutes.
As much came as something of a surprise, albeit with manager Valverde having revealed post-match that Sancet was struggling with a muscular complaint picked up in training.
And as alluded to above, an ensuing round of medical tests have since confirmed an injury setback for the Spaniard.
As per a statement across Athletic Club’s website and social media platforms:
‘Tests confirm that Oihan Sancet has suffered a mild-moderate injury to his left hamstring muscle.’
It now remains to be seen just how long Sancet is ruled out of competitive action, but the attacker looks certain to miss this weekend’s La Liga meeting with RCD Mallorca.
