La Liga outfit Athletic Club have on Sunday announced an injury setback in the club’s first-team setup.
This comes amid confirmation that Unai Gómez is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Athletic Club were back in action on Saturday, locking horns with Premier League heavyweights Arsenal in a friendly clash.
When all was said and done on a day to forget for the Basque outfit, they were put to the sword by three goals to nil in north London.
Athletic’s woes, however, did not end there.
Midway through the first-half at The Emirates, youngster Unai Gómez pulled up with an injury concern, before limping from the field of play.
And 24 hours on, Los Leones have provided an update on the wellbeing of their attack-minded midfielder:
‘Unai Gómez was substituted in the 24th minute of yesterday’s match against Arsenal FC in London after suffering a muscle injury to his right rectus femoris. He is awaiting further treatment.’
