Pau Torres has had a breakdown in communication with Villarreal, report Relevo, and both sides are keen on a sale. Aston Villa want to sign the Spaniard and Unai Emery is leading the charge.
It was reported that Torres was not initially keen on joining the Midlands club, but Emery has managed to convince him with the project. Torres and Emery have been in constant communication over the summer and the centre-back has changed his mind and now wants the move.
Bayern Munich are also monitoring the situation. They want Torres in case of the possible departure of Lucas Hernández to Paris Saint-Germain. The English club are currently leading the race but the situation is by no means certain, and this saga is likely to last a while.
Torres is 26 years old and a very reliable customer. He has started 33 or more league games in every season since 2018. Villa could use some of that reliability, with their star signing last season, Diego Carlos, getting injured after joining the club.
