Arsenal want to sign Marco Asensio from Real Madrid in January

Arsenal are keen on signing Marco Asensio from Real Madrid in the January transfer window, report Mundo Deportivo.

The 26-year-old’s contract is set to expire in June 2023 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. Despite Los Blancos’ willingness to offer him a contract extension, Asensio is considering the option of leaving the Spanish capital in the interest of more playing time.

According to the Italian media, Mikel Arteta has asked the Arsenal board to make a move for the midfielder in the January transfer window.

Asensio is currently with the Spanish national team at the World Cup and he will decide his future once the tournament is over.

Real Madrid put a €50m price tag on the Mallorquín this past summer, but it is believed that the club are planning to lower their asking price for the January transfer window as they do not want to risk losing Asensio in June 2023 for free.
