Arsenal deal Barcelona a transfer blow

The board at La Liga giants Barcelona have been dealt a setback on the transfer front, courtesy of their counterparts at Premier League champions Arsenal.

This comes amid the understanding that the Gunners have definitively ruled out the potential January exit of Piero Hincapié.

Stopper Hincapié had for his part seen his name emerge as a prominent one in the media headlines in Catalunya’s capital over recent weeks.

Amid Barcelona’s ongoing search for reinforcements at the back, the Ecuadorian was named as a leading option, owing to his ability to line out at both centre-back and left-back.

If the latest word stemming from the media this weekend is anything to go by, though, then those of a Blaugrana persuasion need not get their hopes up when it comes to their side’s chances of landing Hincapié.

As per a report from Fichajes, citing market insider Fabrizio Romano:

‘Arsenal have no intention whatsoever of letting Piero Hincapié go. The former Bayer Leverkusen player is highly valued at the club.’
