Serie A champions Napoli are expressing a keen interest in the signature of a member of the defensive ranks at La Liga outfit Rayo Vallecano.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing Italian media, who point towards Andrei Rațiu as the player in question.
Right-back Rațiu was for his part hotly tipped for a departure from Vallecas this past summer.
As much came after the Romanian international established himself as one of the standout performers in all of Spanish football last season.
From his berth on the right of Rayo Vallecano’s backline, Rațiu excelled on both sides of the ball, turning the heads of a whole host of leading clubs across Spain in the process.
In the end, the Rayo brass rebuffed any and all approaches for their defensive star, with Rațiu having stayed put as a result.
As alluded to above, though, despite the summer transfer window having slammed shut, interest in the 27-year-old’s services continues to mount.
As per a report from MD, amid an ongoing search for reinforcements at full-back, Napoli headmaster Antonio Conte has earmarked Rațiu as a leading target.
Rayo, meanwhile, continue to point towards the player’s €25 million release clause.
