Antoine Griezmann set a 10-year La Liga record in Atlético’s win over Levante

Atlético Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has on Saturday evening continued to etch his name ever further into the history books of Spanish football.

This comes after the Frenchman enjoyed a starring appearance off the bench in the Rojiblancos’ latest outing.

Atlético were back in action a short time ago, welcoming Levante to Spain’s capital for a La Liga clash.

And Griezmann went on to prove himself the star of the show, notching a brace en route to an eventual 3-1 triumph for Diego Simeone’s troops.

It was the veteran frontman’s first of the evening which proved a particularly noteworthy one, though.

After breaking free in the Levante penalty area, Griezmann was picked out by Marcos Llorente for a simple finish from close range.

And as revealed by statisticians Opta, in the process of the finding the net:

‘Atlético de Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann has become the fastest substitute to score a goal in La Liga (28 seconds) since Borja Mayoral in Girona vs. Getafe in February 2015 (26 seconds).’
