Another Marc Guiu? Barcelona struggling to tie highly-regarded youngster down to new deal

A concerning update on the ongoing efforts of the brass at La Liga giants Barcelona to tie a member of the club’s youth setup down to a new contract has on Thursday been forthcoming.

The info comes courtesy of Mundo Deportivo, and surrounds Pau Prim.

Prim, for his part, is an 18-year-old midfielder, who has long been considered one of the standout talents on the books of Barcelona.

The Spaniard has been plying his trade with Barca Atlètic since the beginning of the year, starting in all six of the reserve outfit’s fixtures thus far this season.

In turn, it is becoming an increasingly prominent source of concern for the Camp Nou brass that Prim is yet to commit to fresh terms with the club.

The midfielder’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, with the Blaugrana having been locked in negotiations with his representatives over a renewal for some time now.

Prim is currently represented by the same agency who took Marc Guiu away from Catalunya’s capital this summer, to join Premier League giants Chelsea.

And, as per a report from Mundo Deportivo:

‘The future of 18-year-old Pau Prim remains uncertain. Despite talks between the two parties, the agent of the midfielder has not managed to reach an agreement with the club.’
