Ex-Barcelona talent Sergi Domínguez has this week become the latest player to name Frenkie de Jong as the individual who surprised him most with his quality in Catalunya’s capital.
Youngster Domínguez for his part brought a close to his stint in Barcelona’s colours this past summer, linking up with Croatian heavyweights Dinamo Zagreb in a cut-price deal.
Prior to as much, the defender had broken into the first-team picture under the watch of Hansi Flick.
Speaking during an interview with Diario Sport this week, Domínguez was therefore drawn on a whole host of topics relating to his time with Barca’s senior squad.
And the response to one such question has since piqued widespread attentions.
As much comes with the 20-year-old having followed countless Blaugrana stars past and present before him in highlighting Frenkie de Jong as the most surprising player in Hansi Flick’s ranks:
”I’ve said it before, but Frenkie… In training, when he returned to training after the ankle injury, he did nothing wrong. You had a problem and you passed it on and he solved any situation. Of course, Lamine is top, but I already knew it. For me, Frenkie.”
