‘Anger’ at Barcelona with another player’s international call-up

Those in a position of power at La Liga giants Barcelona have been left less than impressed by the call afforded to one of their midfield talents for international duty this week.

That’s according to El Chiringuito TV, who point towards Marc Bernal as the player in question.

Youngster Bernal is for his part of course fresh off a return to the pitch following a full 12 months on the sidelines with an ACL injury.

The 18-year-old has in turn been used sparingly by Barcelona boss Hansi Flick over recent weeks.

In an effort to ease Bernal back into competitive action, he has been afforded a trio of cameos off the bench, none for more than 15 minutes.

In turn, it came as something of a surprise when the engine room starlet was on Friday called up for international duty.

Bernal has been included in the Spanish U21 squad for the October break.

And after bemusement was sparked with Lamine Yamal’s call for La Roja’s senior team earlier in the day, a similar response has been noted regarding Bernal.

As per a report from El Chiringuito TV:

‘There is anger at Barca for calling up Marc Bernal for the Spain U21 team.’
