Ángel Correa receives one-match suspension for red card vs Real Madrid

Argentine attacker Ángel Correa has been handed a one-match ban by the Competition Commitee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) following his red card in the derby against Real Madrid last weekend.

Correa was sent off in the 64th minute of the derby after an elbow on German defender Antonio Rüdiger, although the latter did receive criticism for milking the situation. Despite being shown a straight red card in the game, Correa has only been suspended for just one match.

As reported by AS, the Committee has taken into consideration the allegations and videographic evidence provided by Atlético Madrid in its decision, which the club can still appeal.

On the other hand, Sevilla midfielder Fernando Reges has been handed a four-game ban by the Committee for verbal offences directed towards the refereeing team. The Brazilian was shown a direct red card in the fourth minute of stoppage time in Sevilla’s loss at home to Osasuna, and has since apologised for his actions.
