Ander Herrera is on the verge of rejoining La Liga side Athletic Club. The Spanish midfielder even has his shirt number, according to journalist Matteo Moretto.
Herrera will reportedly join on a 2-year deal and will wear the number 25 shirt for the Basque outfit after agreeing to terminate his contract with PSG today.
The former Manchester United midfielder played 128 games for Athletic between 2011 and 2014.
The player, 33, has been free to leave since PSG told him weeks ago that they no longer counted on him.
Herrera and PSG have been negotiating the termination of his contract that ties the midfielder to the French club until 2024 in exchange for €6 million net per year.
“Ander is a positive person and he will do very well. He is a person with a long career in football but is very humble. In the dressing room he will behave in a very natural way”, explained Jesús Pérez on COPE Bilbao.
Pérez coached Herrera as an assistant coach to Mauricio Pochettino at PSG.
