Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong will see his new contract with the club officially announced this week.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have also provided an insight into some of the details of the deal.
De Jong has agreed to extend his terms in Catalunya’s capital through the summer of 2029, at which point he will be 32 years of age.
This comes with the former Ajax man continuing to prove himself nothing short of a pivotal figure in Hansi Flick’s Blaugrana squad.
De Jong’s renewal will feature a significantly reduced wage packet.
The Dutchman will also see his release clause increased, from its current position at €400 million to an even more unreachable €500 million.
As per MD, De Jong will formally put pen to paper on the deal at Barcelona’s headquarters on Wednesday, October 15th.
An official announcement from the Camp Nou offices will then follow in short order.
