FC Barcelona Femení captain Alexia Putellas underwent surgery on Wednesday on her left knee.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Putellas was admitted to hospital in the early hours of the morning, and in the early afternoon, the club issued a statement saying that the operation had gone well but no further information was given, nor was a timeframe set for her recovery.
The latest setback has kept Putellas sidelined since 14 November. The operation was carried out at Barcelona Hospital by Dr Joan Carles Monllau, who operated on her last summer and was supervised by the club’s medical services.
