Barcelona star Alejandro Balde has made the definitive call to stay put at the club to fight for his place over the course of the season ahead. That’s according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has on Wednesday provided an insight into the situation.
Defender Balde has of course seen his name dominate the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last week.
After reports began to mount that the Spaniard could be on the move before the summer is out, he was left out of Hansi Flick’s squad for Barcelona’s La Liga opener against Elche.
From here, Premier League heavyweights Manchester United, amid an ongoing hunt for reinforcements at left-back, were credited with an interest in Balde’s services.
As alluded to above, however, if the latest word stemming from the media on Wednesday is anything to go by, then the Old Trafford brass will need to look elsewhere for fresh blood at the back.
As per a report from market insider Fabrizio Romano:
‘Understand Alejandro Balde has informed Barcelona about his desire to stay at the club and compete for a spot. His intention is clear; decision up to the club after exploring sale. Only a big proposal from a top club can change the scenario from now to Deadline Day.’
