A head-turning statistic surrounding the recent struggles of Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. has come to the fore online on Wednesday.
This comes after the Brazilian was afforded his latest opportunity to rediscover his brilliant best in Los Blancos’ Champions League meeting with AEK Athens.
En route to an eventual 3-2 triumph for José Mourinho’s troops in Greece, Vinícius again left a lot to be desired, though, still struggling to piece his attacking repertoire together over the course of a full 90-minute outing.
Most glaring was the 26-year-old’s inability to beat his man in one-on-one situations, once considered Vinícius’ strongest attribute.
And this is not a new shortcoming for the South American, particularly in this season’s edition of the Champions League. As revealed by statistician Albert Ortega in the aftermath of this evening’s Athens showdown:
‘Vinícius has not completed a single successful dribble in the last three Champions League matches he has played (AEK Athens, RB Leipzig, and Roma).’
